Weekend Cheesemonger & Tyromancer

Tyromancer is Saddleworth’s only dedicated artisan cheesemonger. We bring exceptional artisan cheese and a small selection of fine food and drink to Uppermill High Street.

We’re looking for a cheese enthusiast to join our team on a part-time basis. Someone who wants to immerse themselves in the world of cheese, and provide brilliant service to our customers.

This is a part-time weekend role, with regular shifts on Saturdays and Sundays and the occasional midweek shifts if desired. Applicants must be aged 18 or over, must be available to work weekends, and must be willing to try and recommend all the cheese we sell.

Responsibilities:

  • Create an inviting and friendly customer experience 

  • Offer enthusiastic and considered product recommendations

  • Cut and prepare cheese to the highest standard

  • Maintain an attractive retail environment

  • Assist with stock rotation and organisation

  • Maintain excellent shop hygiene and product quality standards

Applicants must have:

  • Genuine love of cheese and artisan food

  • Desire to provide brilliant customer service with a friendly, enthusiastic approach

  • Willingness to learn (and follow) strict hygiene procedures and quality standards

  • Availability to work weekends and busy seasonal periods

Applicants will preferably have:

  • Previous retail or food service experience 

  • Flexibility to work half days as part of a working week

What we offer:

  • Cheese and retail training (including tastings)

  • Staff cheese allowance and discount

  • Starting salary of £13.45 per hour
